Footage of the Euromaidan events — mass protests in Ukraine that began on November 21, 2013, in response to the Ukrainian government's suspension of preparations for the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. Thousands of Ukrainian citizens gathered in Independence Square. A boy dances, miming a fight. Protesters sing and dance. One of the first confrontations with security forces, who have not yet used riot gear. Protesters discuss their plan of action right on the street.

"Returning the Names" is an annual civic event commemorating the victims of political repression, organized by Memorial. Participants read aloud the names of those executed during the Soviet era. In Moscow, the event takes place on the 29th October at the Solovetsky Stone, on the eve of the Day of Rememberance for Victims of Political Repression. Since 2020, authorities have regularly refused to allow the event, citing coronavirus restrictions.
